What is the Melbourne International Dumpling Festival?
The Melbourne International Dumpling Festival, or MIDF, is Melbourne’s celebration of the world’s dumplings. Returning to Queen Victoria Market for the first time since 2019, the festival brings together food, culture and community through dumpling traditions from across the globe.
When is MIDF?
MIDF returns on Monday, 2 November 2026, Melbourne Cup Eve.
Where is MIDF?
MIDF will be held at Queen Victoria Market in the heart of Melbourne.
Has MIDF been held before?
Yes. MIDF returns in 2026 for the first time since the 2019 festival, following a seven-year break.
What kinds of dumplings does MIDF celebrate?
MIDF celebrates dumpling traditions from around the world, including momo, gyoza, xiao long bao, pierogi, ravioli, manti, khinkali and mandu. These examples illustrate the diversity of dumplings celebrated by MIDF and do not represent confirmed vendors or menu items.
